Tout le monde le connaît, ce café tenu par la mère
Nanon. Une porte basse sur la rue, un petit escalier à descendre,
un corridor à suivre, et l'on se trouve dans la salle avec
son plafond à solives, ses tables en bois et la Bataille
d'Isly accrochée au mur. Il faut voir le billard! Long
comme un vaisseau de guerre, ce billard, contemporain de Louis XIV,
est décoré, à ses quatre coins, de grosses
têtes de lion qui ouvrent avec leur gueule de cuivre chaque
fois qu'une bille tombe dedans.
Translation: NANON'S CAFÉ
Everybody knows it, the café of Mother Nanon. A tiny door
on the street, some stairs to go downstairs, a corridor to go along,
and you find yourself in the saloon with the beam ceiling and the
wood tables and The battle of Isly on the wall. You must see the
billiards table! Long as a battleship, this billiard, contemporary
of Louis XIV, decorated on it's four angles with big lion heads
opening up widely their copper mouth each time a billiard ball falls
inside.
